B. Couture Skin Medspa Review
Your Trusted Guide to Luxury Skin & Wellness Experiences
RIU Negril, Jamaica
Date of Visit: February 21 & 24, 2025

First Impressions
Tucked away from the lively entertainment areas of the resort, the spa at RIU Negril offered a welcome escape and a slower pace. The entire property had recently been renovated, so the spa felt modern, fresh, and spotless.
Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the front desk coordinator, who helped me select products and book my next appointment with ease. While there was a very small waiting area with just two chairs, it was quiet and comfortable enough. Towels, robes, and access to the steam room and showers were available, though only provided after I specifically asked.
The spa itself carried a light, calming scent of green tea and ginger, paired with soft, relaxing music that set the tone for a serene atmosphere.
Services Received
- Treatments: 1-hour massage and facial for both myself and my husband
Both treatments were enjoyable and provided a nice break from the sun and activity-filled days at the resort.
Products & Retail
The spa carries Renova Spa products, many of which feature green tea and witch hazel—ingredients well-suited to Jamaica’s hot, humid climate thanks to their purifying and refreshing properties.
I purchased:
- Two body exfoliants: Lavender Rosemary & Green Tea Ginger
- Two essential oils: Green Tea Ginger & Mango Pineapple
- A clarifying acne mask with Tea Tree & Witch Hazel
The product selection was wonderful, though I did feel the sales approach was a bit pushy. Having already purchased items prior to my service, it was uncomfortable when there seemed to be tension between the provider and front desk regarding sales.

Results & Aftercare
- Results: I felt relaxed, refreshed, and my skin looked brighter post-treatment.
- Aftercare: Standard advice to hydrate and wear SPF was provided.
- Follow-Up: Product recommendations were given, though the sales push detracted slightly from the overall experience.
Pricing & Value
Pricing was typical for a resort spa—mid level, but expected. The biggest drawback was the lack of a true relaxation lounge; with only two waiting chairs by the front desk, it didn’t quite deliver the luxurious atmosphere I had hoped for.
Highlights
- Easy to book appointments via the RIU app, though reservations can’t be made until you’ve checked into the resort. This limits planning ahead for multiple spa days.
- Newly renovated spa with a clean, modern feel.
- Friendly and accommodating front desk staff.
Areas for Improvement
- A dedicated relaxation lounge would greatly elevate the experience.
- Clearer communication around amenities like robes, towels, and steam room access.
- A softer sales approach to retail products.
Beyond the Spa – Resort Experience
RIU Negril is a family-friendly, all-inclusive resort with plenty of activities. Compared to RIU Ocho Rios (which features larger water slides), Negril offered a more updated and spacious feel.
Our family suite was impressively large, with two separate rooms for privacy, and the bathroom was bigger than many standard hotel rooms. The beachfront location was beautiful—we even spotted small nurse sharks, starfish, and shells along the shore.
As for food, RIU resorts tend to be average compared to higher-end all-inclusives, but still better than budget resorts. The spa, though an additional charge, made for a wonderful retreat for parents looking to unwind.
Final Verdict
B. Couture Score: 5/10
- Would I return? While it wasn’t my favorite spa experience, it was still a nice option for relaxation during a family vacation.
Overall: A decent resort spa with room to grow. Perfect for a quick unwind, but not quite a destination-worthy spa experience.
