First Impressions
Ambiance & Cleanliness:
Strom Spa Nordique is an expansive, modern facility with a sleek, minimal design. The building itself exudes luxury with dark greys and blacks softened by warm wood accents and greenery. Nestled along the stunning St. Lawrence River, the natural setting elevates the entire experience.
Although our appointments were at 9:00 AM (before the official 10:00 AM opening), we were rushed right in without much guidance on changing protocols—our timing was partly to blame, but clearer instructions would have helped.
The environment was serene and thoughtfully designed. Multiple quiet zones, funky seating, “igloo” relaxation pods, heated towel racks, and the ability to swim indoors and out—even in chilly weather—made this spa stand out. Each bath was clearly labeled with its temperature, and waterfalls added an extra layer of tranquility. Even with rainy weather, the vibe was moody, soothing, and perfect for a girls’ weekend, honeymoon escape, or a solo reset.
Scent & Vibe:
The space smelled fresh and clean without being overly perfumed. The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting—tailor-made for relaxation.
Front Desk & Locker Room Experience
Check-in felt rushed, partly due to our early arrival. One downside was the lack of communication about slippers—not provided nor mentioned ahead of time, which is typically standard at spas of this caliber.
However, the locker room was fully equipped with everything you’d need: clean robes, lockers, body and hair products, hairdrying stations, and showers. Water stations were available throughout, and the on-site restaurant (which we didn’t get to try) looked amazing.
Services Received
Treatment: BOREAL Facial with Hair Treatment + Nordic Bath Access
Provider: Christina, Esthetician
Experience:
This was one of the most relaxing facials I’ve ever received. Christina had a gentle touch and calm demeanor, instantly putting me at ease. After a brief skin assessment, she focused on hydration and relaxation, allowing me to completely unwind.
Though the facial was simple in technique, the results were visible—my skin looked brighter, felt hydrated, and my mind was calm. The highlight? The hair and scalp treatment—an add-on I always love, and here it was exceptionally done. The facial massage was also heavenly.
Product Lines Used
- BOREAL Skin Care
- Nelly DeVuyst
- Strom’s Signature Skincare Line
Results & Aftercare
Post-Treatment Results: Skin felt immediately refreshed, glowy, and deeply hydrated.
Aftercare Instructions: Apply SPF if heading outdoors.
Follow-Up: I received a satisfaction survey via email. At checkout, I clarified whether I’d been charged separately for the Nordic Baths—thankfully, access is included with any treatment, though that wasn’t made clear during online booking.
Pricing & Value
Strom Spa is exceptionally well-priced for the experience and access provided. With any treatment, you can enjoy full-day access to:
- Eight Nordic baths
- Infrared therapy beds
- Multiple quiet and sound meditation rooms
- Steam rooms and saunas
- Dark salt float therapy bath
- Open-concept showers with decadent orange body scrub
Although we spent three hours total—including a one-hour facial—I easily could have stayed all day. The restaurant looked divine, and I regret not carving out time for a meal.
Strom also offers hotel partnerships, Airbnb packages, and service bundles to suit every budget, as well as spa memberships.
Highlights
This is hands-down one of the best designed and most well-rounded day spas I’ve visited. It felt luxurious, intentional, and peaceful—without the luxury price tag. Every detail, from the ambiance to the amenities, was beautifully curated. I can’t wait to return, either to this location or one of their five others.
Areas for Improvement
- Arrival Instructions: Clearer guidance for early appointments is needed so guests know when to arrive and how to prepare.
- Slippers: Should be provided or explicitly stated as a required item in confirmation emails.
- Check-In Orientation: We discovered amenities like the sound room and salt bath on our own—this could be better explained during check-in.
- Treatment Comfort: The first hot towels were lukewarm—easily remedied by prepping them earlier, especially for the day’s first client.
Where We Stayed & Ate
Hotel: Monsieur Jean – Old Québec
A charming boutique hotel in the heart of Old Québec, just 8 minutes from Strom Spa. The décor is whimsical and modern with cobalt blue accents, twinkling ceiling lights, and cozy lounge areas. Our corner room had exposed brick, a large soaking tub, and panoramic views of the city. Dog- and kid-friendly, but still romantic and sophisticated.
Bites & Dining:
- Casse-Crêpe Breton: Perfect for breakfast or a midday bite. We loved both the savory and sweet crepes. The cozy vibe and surrounding European architecture made it feel like we were dining in Paris.
- Dinner at Alphonse: A gem in the heart of Old Québec. No reservations, but worth the wait. Great wine, delicious food, and excellent service.
Final Verdict – B. Couture Score: 9.5/10
Would I return? Absolutely. Next time, I’ll stay longer, book more treatments, and make time for the restaurant and float room. Strom Spa Nordique delivers an elite spa experience without the elite price—thoughtful, peaceful, and truly unforgettable.
